The film starts with Buddy's mother and father running away from the hunters and their dogs. They eventually find hole where they hide Buddy. They say their goodbye and run out of the hole to protect Buddy and divert the hunters attention. Gun shots are heard and Buddy looks out of the hole at the moon.

2 years later, Buddy is playing with his animal friends in the forest. After playing hide and seek, Chops the bulldog suggests stealing from the local butchers so that they can eat. They decide for it and they eventually rob meat from the London butchers. 

​

The butcher knows that he is thieved from and that a fox has been in his shop. He meets with hunters and requests for them to find and kill the thieving fox that took his meat.

​

The next day, Buddy runs into a swan called Nelly who tells Buddy the news that a group of hunters are after him.She explains that she is one of the protected animals in the United Kingdom. Nelly and Buddy plan to beg the queen to put a law over all animals to not be harmed.

​

As the forest are under threat from the hunters, Nelly and Buddy bravely make their way to the palace and sneak past the guards. They find the queen and Buddy tells her the disheartening story of when the hunters savagely killed his parents when he was a newborn and that he doesn't want any other animal to go through the trauma that he did. The queen understandably accepts his story and creates a law to protect all animals in the United Kingdom, and if the law is broken for there to be a £10,000 fine or prison for 15 years.
